Schulhoff Quartet No. 1
Haydn Quartet in D op. 20 no. 4
Mendelssohn Quartet in F minor op. 80
One of six young international quartets tipped for the top by The Times, the Brodowski added the ensemble category prize in last year’s Royal Overseas League Competition to a clutch of international awards.
They have already appeared in the South Bank and Barbican concert halls and make their Wigmore Hall debut shortly after this concert. Quartets by two of this year’s centenary composers are prefaced by a folk-inspired piece by the Erwin Schulhoff.
‘The brilliant Brodowski Quartet are a group to watch out for’ (The Independent)
The relative modesty of Harlaxton church is in stark contrast to the extravagant architecture of Harlaxton Manor and the nearby picturesque cottages. But it conceals many impressive features including a flight of stone angels holding up the roof beams and an impressive font.
