Down To Earth Youth Drama

Down To Earth Youth Drama

Down To Earth (D2E) is the Guildhall Arts Centre’s resident youth drama group. It’s a great place to hang-out, build confidence, make new friends and have fun, not forgetting having the chance to be a part of excellent productions in our theatre!

The Guildhall Arts Centre opened in 1991 and there’s been a vibrant youth drama scene here ever since. We’ve revamped the Guildhall’s Youth Theatre with a new name, logo and lots of new projects, hopefully making it bigger and better than ever!  With our background based firmly in the professional arts industry, we can offer an exciting programme which develops creative and performance skills and offers members the opportunity to learn technical skills, review professional shows, be involved in community arts projects and take part in a full-scale show.

Based within The Guildhall Arts Centre itself, D2E is the only youth drama group in town with direct access to a professional working theatre!  On top of all that, it’s a great place to hang-out, build confidence, make new friends and have fun!

When do the groups meet?
Classes are as follows:
Junior (7 to 10 years) – Tuesdays 4.30pm to 5.30pm, £2 per session
Intermediate (11 to 14 years) – Tuesdays 5.45pm to 7.15pm, £2.50 per session
Senior (14+ years) – Fridays 5pm – 7pm, £3 per session

What happens when I come along to my first meeting?
D2E is really relaxed and fun, so there’s no reason to be nervous! Group leader Jade will ask you to fill out a form so that we have got your contact details and know a bit about you, and then you’ll be introduced to the rest of the group and play a few games to get everyone warmed up – so make sure to wear loose clothing so you’re comfortable! You might want to bring a bottle of water along too.

If I join D2E, what do I get to do?

  • You get the chance to meet new people, make new friends and have fun!
  • You get to put on great shows in a professional theatre with the support of our technical and marketing staff
  • You get to show parents and friends what you’ve learned in our ballroom showcase sessions
  • Your membership card allows you entry to any Guildhall Promoted show for just £3.50!
  • You can review Guildhall Promoted shows and get them published on the Guildhall’s Facebook Fan Page and the
  • Guildhall website – great experience for those interested in or already studying drama, theatre studies or literature
  • You get access to visiting professional companies
  • You get to be the resident youth theatre group for ‘Gravity Fields’ – a huge arts and science festival returning in 2016!
