After the successful launch of their online arts events during the lockdown, Stamford Arts Centre and Grantham’s Guildhall Arts Centre, have brought together another programme of activity across a huge variety of artistic disciplines.
Premiering several unique or specially commissioned shows and concerts between now and Christmas, the arts venues hope to provide both regular and new audiences with an eclectic programme similar to that which would have been experienced in person at this time of year.
While both venues begin a phased re-opening, Ben Reynolds, Stamford Arts Centre’s Box Office Supervisor, said: “We are proud to present a number of different shows that our audiences can enjoy at home this Autumn. We saw thousands of people enjoy our jazz concerts, Music In Quiet Places series and special theatre pieces, such as Mrs Siddons in Lockdown over the Spring and Summer. We saw this as an opportunity to build upon the success of these online events, while we wait for restrictions to allow people back into our theatres in a sustainable way.”
Some of the coming events, premiering on both YouTube and Facebook, are even being filmed at the Arts Centre’s, meaning that performers can re-create the show in the space that it was designed for, as opposed to their own living rooms! Online Events this coming Autumn include the launch of a Gravity Fields Festival day, both jazz and classical music concerts, theatre and dance shows, family activities and Zoom hosted workshops.
Councillor Rosemary Trollope-Bellew, the Cabinet Member for Culture and Visitor Economy said:
“Connecting audiences with high-quality activities and events during the pandemic has been our key goal. This new programme of work will continue to create opportunities for local creative artists and performers to share their skills and talents as we begin the process of safely reopening our greatly missed venues to the general public.”
