The Guildhall is a unique Victorian Grade II listed building full of history with a variety of spaces available for every occasion.

The former town hall’s imposing Victorian clock tower dominates St Peter’s Hill in the town centre and is well situated and easy to find. Behind the grand facade are a range of rooms and support facilities to accommodate a variety of occasions including performances, conferences, seminars, presentations, meetings, workshops, receptions and parties. Spaces for hire include the impressive Ballroom, the 210 seat Theatre, Studio 1, Studio 2, Studio 4, and The Newton Room.
Food and beverage
A variety of buffet lunches are available from the Guildhall’s in-house coffee shop from just £3.25 a head, made on site from locally sourced produce and including home-made cakes and Rainforest Alliance coffees. Click here for a menu. If you’d like to bring in a certified caterer for your event, we also have a professional kitchen and a range of support equipment available for hire. The Guildhall has a range of licenced bar areas which can be opened for your event at request.

At the Guildhall we understand that organising events can be stressful which is why our team make every effort to ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible from arranging your room to supplying* technical support.
All public areas inside the Guildhall are accessible to wheelchair users with a lift to the first and second floors. There are disabled toilet facilities on the ground floor and an induction loop in the auditorium. Anyone requiring assistance should inform the venue prior to visiting and we will be more than happy to help. Assistance dogs will receive a warm welcome into the venue.

Please note: Advertised prices relate to events held from Monday to Saturday. The Guildhall is closed on Sundays although can be made available at managements’ discretion. Special rates apply.
Venue access times
The Guildhall is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays and public holidays.
The main front doors to the venue will open from 09:30 as standard, access to hires will be granted from 9:00 via the Edith Smith side entrance.
If no events have been programmed, the standard closing time for the venue is 17.00 unless agreed otherwise by the venue management team.
