Our Place, Our Art

This mural is an illustrated trail of Stamford sharing the places and spaces that are significant to Stamford residents. It acts as an opportunity to share new places around Stamford that may not usually be known of by visitors and new residents.
The creation of the mural provided the opportunity for long standing residents to celebrate and share the love for their town in a creative and inclusive way.
The final locations and words selected for the mural were curated from workshops across Stamford, with groups such as Stamford Scholars Group, Art Pop Ups Youth Club, as well as open public sessions.
The mural starts at Stamford Recreation Ground where the mural is installed, and follows a trail around Stamford from Broad Street, all the way down to the Meadows and back again.
Locations include St Marys Church to spot the peregrine Falcons, The famous willow tree of the meadows - a opportunity for a mindfulness moment to sit on the bench and admire the surrounding nature & Ironmongers Street to admire some of the exhibition windows of local communities artwork. Each location will provide some form of activity linking to wellbeing, the arts and the towns heritage.
The mural has a QR code on it where members of the public can scan to access a digital version of the map, as linked here. This digital map is also interactive, and explains the significance of location in further detail.
The final work is also on display in The Arts Centre and Library so that the trail is visible within
town centre and visitor hot spots.
An celebration event was held at St John's Church, where local artists and poets were asked to submit their works about Stamford. The created a beautiful exhibition across the weekend from professional and amatuer artists, including live poetry readings.
