Wheelchair Access

Ease of access for wheelchair users was a priority during the conversion of the building. However, due to the layout of the auditorium and our evacuation procedures, wheelchair spaces are limited.

During our standard season, we can safely accommodate one wheelchair user in the auditorium. This space is located in the balcony, allowing us to ensure the safe and efficient evacuation of all patrons in the event of an emergency.

During the pantomime season, when demand is higher, additional wheelchair spaces are available. These are located on the front row, where Row A is removed specifically to improve access and enable safe evacuation, allowing us to accommodate more wheelchair users.

We have two public entrances:

  • The Victorian front entrance, which has steps

  • A fully accessible side entrance with electric doors

Wheelchair users can book their space online. If you are a long-term or permanent wheelchair user, please contact the Box Office so we can tag your account and enable online booking for wheelchair spaces and companion/carer seats.

If you use a wheelchair or have any additional access requirements, we recommend contacting the Box Office before booking. Our team will be happy to discuss your needs and help ensure your visit is as comfortable and safe as possible.

Wheelchair Spaces are labelled:

Ramp

On entering the Arts Centre, there is a ramp providing easy access to the coffee shop area, the toilet facilities and the ground floor of the auditorium.

Lift
Access to the auditorium balconies, the ballroom and some meeting room facilities are accessible via a lift.

Disabled Toilet
The key for the disabled toilet is available from the Box Office. This toilet also houses baby changing facilities.

Induction Loop
To enhance the sound quality for those with hearing difficulties, our theatre has been fitted with an induction loop. Please turn your hearing aid to the ‘T’ position.
