Moira Cameron served for 15 years as the first ever female Beefeater at the Tower of London after a distinguished 22-year Army career. As the home of both the first policewoman and female prime minister, where better than Grantham for Moira to share her fascinating story: from her controversial recruitment, to meeting royals, presidents and Hollywood stars – even singing in the first-ever variety show at the Tower. She’s had a Beefeater gin label produced in her honour, greeted millions to the UK in her larger-than-life mural at Heathrow airport and featured in the ‘First Women’ gallery tour of trail-blazing women, not to mention the Guinness Book of Records.
Now after a lifetime of service to her country she relishes the idea of sharing her experiences, knowledge, and insights as she enjoys a much deserved (and early) retirement. Moira also weaves in fascinating historical facts about the Tower and British history, as well as the ups and downs of living inside His Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress.
