Agatha Parkin with the Britten Trio

Agatha Parkin with the Britten Trio

A Grantham Music Club Concert.

The violinist of The Britten Trio, Agatha Parkin, has performed in and around Grantham since she was seven, winning the Open String Repertoire Trophy at the Grantham Music Festival three times by the age of twelve. She gave her first solo recital when she was thirteen, at St Wulfram's, and performed Vaughan Williams' 'The Lark Ascending' there when she was sixteen. She has given two pre-concert performances at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, as well as a lunchtime recital at Nottingham Theatre Royal which drew an audience of over two hundred people.

Last year Agatha was awarded a major scholarship by the Royal Academy of Music, where she continues her studies (begun when she was twelve) with Prof. Rodney Friend, renowned orchestral leader and violinist with the highly regarded Solomon Trio

Since her time leading ensembles in Grantham, Agatha has been ambitious to form a piano trio of her own and she has now been able to do so, co-founding The Britten Trio with fellow Royal Academy students. After a very positive reception at the Academy and coaching from Adrian Brendel, Anthony Marwood and The Barbican Quartet (winners of the Joseph Joachim International Chamber Competition), Agatha is delighted to bring the trio to Grantham for their first public performance.
