‘I will sing you a song and a very pretty one’
Early English songs & folk ballads A garland of songs including tender lullabies, spine-chilling ballads, shanties, carols, lively dances and songs from a long tradition of social protest, from Lincolnshire and beyond. MIQP favourites Alva return with a programme devised especially for this concert, bringing their distinctive sound and warm communication to music drawn from 800 years of English history. St Andrew’s church stands amongst trees at the top of the broad high street. Evidence of its Norman origins are evident in a pillar on the north side of the aisle with the chancel from the 13th century and aisles and 14th century arcades. The finest feature is undoubtedly the screen with its richly carved pattern of roses and vines.
