'Cultivating Mad Cow' is the true story of the transformative, dramatic life of a Sheffield social worker whose life is suddenly thrown into chaos when mental illness strikes.
This high octane, giant puddle of energetic chaos is superbly performed as a one woman show by actor Penny Capper who manages to portray both the light and the dark in equal measures in this powerful, madly funny rollercoaster of a story. Cultivating Mad Cow is about love, passion, desperation, community, work, mental illness, recovery, creativity and deep, bizarre, human connections, with a little bit of Barry White thrown in!
Feedback:
“I love the book, but the staging of it has really taken the work to a much higher level. Unbelievably emotive, fabulous turns of phrase, Sheffieldisms, Kathrynisms and humour and amazing warmth, conveying difficult and tragic subject matter. Penny absolutely nailed Kathryn’s portrayal. It’s absolutely magic. I cannot wait to see this play succeed.”
Mark Davies, Consultant, Sheffield Hospitals
“An absolute pleasure and I feel grateful to have seen it. Inspiring. I think it will be a huge success and we really can’t wait to make the film of the same story now. It’s so powerful seeing the characters lifted from the written page and brought to life.”
