Grantham Dramatic Society Four likely lasses from the Hull fish docks head off on a day trip to Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot, the year it went to York, in this exuberant and hilarious comedy by Amanda Whittington, a Nottingham born playwright and journalist. Work, love and life are just one hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome; Pearl, Jan, Linda and Shelley. But their fortunes are set to change when Linda finds four tickets for the Enclosure at York Races. Factory hairnets, overalls and safety shoes make way for fancy hats, fascinators, posh frocks and high heels, as the four fillies hit the races to enjoy fizz, flirting and a flutter, on their unforgettable day out. As the day unfolds secrets are revealed, friendships are tested and emotions run high. If their luck holds, the ladies could hit the jackpot – and more!
