
Dr James Cooper - York St John University
Margaret Thatcher (née Roberts) of Grantham changed the course of British history and helped to end the Cold War. This talk will explore key events of the Thatcher years and examine her relationships with major world leaders, in particular Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev.
Please join Dr James Cooper for this special event. Dr Cooper is an Associate Professor of History and American Studies at York St John University.
He is the author of multiple books and other works about contemporary American and British History.
His latest monograph is: A Diplomatic Meeting: Reagan, Thatcher, and the Art of Summitry (2022). Cooper has previously held lectureships at Oxford Brookes University and Aberystwyth University.
He was also a Fellow at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in 2016 and was the twentieth Fulbright-Robertson Visiting Professor of British History at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, in 2012-13.
